About the Abortion

Abortion procedures vary according to the stage of pregnancy. Each procedure is painful for both the mother and her unborn baby. Abortion procedures include:

After implantation:

RU486 – This is effective only from the fifth through the seventh week. The RU486 kills a developing baby. It blocks a vital nutrient hormone, Progesterone. A second drug, prostaglandin, is used to expel the dead baby from the womb. In a controlled report, one woman in 100 bled so profusely she either needed a D&C and/or blood transfusion. Other complications include substantial pain, tubal pregnancies, incomplete abortion, and uterine rupture.

IN THE FIRST TRIMESTER:

Menstrual extraction – This is a very early suction abortion; often done before the pregnancy test is positive.

Suction-aspiration – The cervical muscle ring is first paralyzed. A hollow plastic tube is inserted which has a knife-like edge on the tip. The suction tears the baby’s body into pieces. The uterus is scraped and contents sucked out into a bottle (The suction is 29 times more powerful than a home vacuum cleaner).

Dilation and Curettage (D&C) – The most frequently used procedure, performed up to the twelfth week of pregnancy. A loop-shaped steel knife is inserted in the uterus, which is used to cut the placenta and baby into pieces and then the parts are scraped out into a basin.

THE SECOND TRIMESTER:

Dilation and Evacuation (D&E) – Performed the twelfth through the sixteenth week. Similar to the D&C, but forceps are used to dismember the baby and crush his head so it can pass though the suction tube.

Saline (salt solution) or Prostaglandin (hormone) – Performed after the sixteenth week. The saline solution is injected through the mother’s abdomen into the amniotic sac. The baby breathes and swallows it, is poisoned, struggles, and sometimes convulses. The baby is delivered vaginally after a painful labor; baby may be born alive. (This procedure isn’t as common as it was in the 1970’s & 80’s because of danger to the mother).

Pregnancy Reduction – This is done in multi-fetal pregnancies or to kill a handicapped baby. At about 4 months, a needle is inserted through the mother’s abdomen, into the chest and heart of one of the fetal babies and poison is injected to kill him or her. If dead the baby’s body is absorbed.

THE THIRD TRIMESTER

Dilation and Extraction (D&X) – Performed the fourth to ninth month. The baby is delivered legs first, except for his head. Suction is used to remove the baby’s brain so his head can be collapsed and removed.

Hysterotomy – Performed after the twenty-sixth week. The same procedure as a Caesarian section. The mother’s uterus is entered surgically; the baby is removed and often left to die.
